PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a road information providing system capable of collecting event data, carrying out evaluation of reliability with respect to event data provided from a provider, and providing event data such as traffic information and event information, including a degree of reliability to a user. SOLUTION: The road information providing system receives and records event data attached with positional information provided by a position detecting part from a portable terminal, and it sends the event data to the portable terminal when there is a request from the user. It has an event database recording pieces of event data per type with positional information of events attached to them, a registering part registering the event data of each point sent from the portable terminal in the event database along with the positional information, a retrieving part retrieving event data registered in the event database in accordance with a retrieval request, and a server counting the number of pieces of the same retrieved positional information, and sending the requested event data to the portable terminal along with the registered number.
