PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide type integrated circuit element, including a plurality of optical circuits, which can greatly improve the manufacturing yield. SOLUTION: The optical waveguide type optical integrated circuit element has a preliminary optical circuit having the same functions with optical circuits, an optical switch which guides light to the preliminary optical circuit not through the optical circuits, and a bypass optical path as to an optical waveguide type optical integrated circuit having two or more optical circuits having specified functions in the element. Further, the optical switch can switch optical paths by crossing an optical path for guiding light to the optical circuits and the bypass optical path for guiding light to the preliminary optical circuit preferably at right angles, forming a groove at the intersection part preferably vertically, and varying the refractive index in the groove. Therefore, when optical circuits which should originally be used are unusable, an optical signal is guided to the preliminary optical circuit while by bypassing the optical circuits which should originally be used and desired signal processing is enabled.
