PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device exhibiting sufficient steering operability regardless of the kind of a tire. SOLUTION: An assist map setting part included in a target current setting part of the electric power steering device detects the kind of the tire based on an operation signal imparted from a kind input part (S10) and determines whether or not the kind of the tire is a tire A (S20). By the result of the determination, when it is the tire A, an assist map for the predetermined tire A is set as the assist map used for assisting steering (S30) and when it is not the tire A, the assist map for a tire B is similarly set (S40). The assist map for the tire A is designed such that the steering operability becomes the best when the tire A is attached to the vehicle and the assist map for the tire B is also similar.
