PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily control the cross sectional shape of a projected and recessed pattern formed on a master disk using heat mode recording. SOLUTION: A recording master disk is used with a base plate 101, a thermosensitive material layer 102 in which states are varied by exposure and at least one recording auxiliary layer 103 which is arranged to contact the thermosensitive material layer 102. By arbitrarily selecting the thermal conductivity of the recording auxiliary layer, optical constants and thickness or the like, the exposure condition of the thermosensitive material layer is thermally and optically controlled and the cross sectional shape of the projected and recessed pattern formed on the master disk is controlled.
