PURPOSE: A cathode is provided to achieve improved electron radiation characteristics, and maintains operating life even in a high current density of 4.6A/cm¬2 or higher. CONSTITUTION: A cathode comprises a gas metal including a reducer metal consisting of a high diffusion reducer metal and a low diffusion reducer metal; and an electron radiation material layer including at least an active metal. The active metal is one of lanthanum, iridium, and thorium.
