LCD OF A REFLECTIVE-TRANSMISSION TYPE TO IMPROVE A RESPONSE SPEED AND WIDEN A VIEWING ANGLE

PURPOSE: An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) of a reflective-transmission type is provided to improve a response speed and widen a viewing angle by forming a liquid crystal layer adopting an OCB(Optically Compensated Birefringence) mode. CONSTITUTION: An upper polarizer panel(416) is placed over an upper substrate(200). A lower substrate(100) includes a reflective panel(160) for reflecting natural light and a transmission window(145) for transmitting artificial light. A lower polarizer panel(426) is placed under the lower substrate. A liquid crystal layer(300) is formed between the lower substrate and the upper substrate and has a splay state as an alignment state when electric power is not applied to the liquid crystal layer.
