During the induction stroke the inlet valve (EV) is open during the first part of the stroke (a1) from top dead center (OT) to approximately 90 degrees crank angle (W). It gradually closes during the second part of the stroke (a2), with closure finishing at or near a crank angle of 180 degrees. The inlet and exhaust valves are closed during the compression stroke (b). A control computer with a program store and a data store regulates injection of fuel gas (E1-4).
