PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composite material consisting of a resin excellent in mechanical strengths, heat resistance and gas barrier performance and an inorganic filler, further excellent in dispersion of the inorganic filler and having a good appearance of its formed article, inexpensively. SOLUTION: This composite material consisting of the resin and the inorganic filler is characterized in that, when the resin is dissolved with a solvent capable of dissolving the resin, and the solution is measured with a laser diffraction scattering type particle size distribution meter, an average diameter, a mode diameter, a median diameter, a maximum diameter, a maximum diffracted intensity and 98 % particle diameters satisfy specific conditions.
