The proposed method for producing a directly heated cathode, which is designed for use in electron-beam devices, is distinctive by that the cathode is designed as a wire made of refractory metal. The wire is exposed to cold draw-forming, before producing the cathode, and tension with constant force in the production process. The present invention provides stable characteristics of directly heated cathodes and electron-beam devices with such cathodes.
