PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a driver to make telescopic adjustment in a very well operable manner and keep a weight almost constant when supported on the side of a steering wheel, independently of the position of telescopic adjustment, by making a telescopic operation lever movable in linkage with the steering wheel during telescopic adjustment. SOLUTION: A column central member 2 and an upper column 3 are telescopically slid relative to a lower column 1 (an inner column) on a body side. A telescopic clamping mechanism is arranged on the front side of a vehicle beyond a universal joint 9 at a tilting center and provided on the side of the column central member 2 which is telescopically slide in linkage with the telescopic sliding of the steering wheel.
