An SMS security system of a mobile communication terminal and a security method thereof are provided to decide whether an authentication number is included in a corresponding message, and to require an inputting of a user password, thereby displaying the message only when a user authentication is succeeded. If a user selects a short message display menu(S10), a control unit decides whether a message includes an authentication number(S12). If not, the control unit displays the message on a display unit(S20). If a message includes an authentication number, the control unit requires an inputting of a user password(S14). The control unit decides whether the user exactly inputs a password(S16). If so, the control unit displays the message on a display unit(S20). If the user inputs a wrong password, the control unit intercepts reading of the message, and informs the user of that the message is not displayed because of discordance of a user password(S18).
