PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera capable of eliminating the problem wherein the image transfer to a computer is disturbed. SOLUTION: The connection of one end 301 of a USB cable to a USB connector 107, provided to the digital camera 100, is detected with a connection detecting switch 107_5. A connection detecting flag 143a is determined, after receiving the detection. An inquiry of whether driver software suitable for the digital camera 100 is installed to a personal computer is made to a user via a liquid crystal monitor. The digital camera is provided with an I/F 140, by which a communication path is cut by turning off communication path switches 142_1, 142_2, until the confirmation of the installation of the driver software is obtained.
