PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a post treatment method after development to prevent a stain in a non-image part caused on restarting printing when a polymerizable photosensitive planographic printing plate is used for printing, and to provide a plate face protecting agent used for the post treatment. SOLUTION: After a photosensitive planographic printing plate having a photopolymerizable photosensitive layer containing a polymerizable compound having an ethylenic double bond, a photopolymerization initiator and a polymer binder on an aluminum plate supporting body is exposed imagewise and developed, the plate is treated with a plate face protecting agent containing (A) a phosphonic acid compound having <2,000 molecular weight and (B) a phosphonic acid compound having≥2,000 molecular weight, and then heated at 50°C to 200°C.
