PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery pack in which the mounting area of circuit, component cost and power consumption are reduced by realizing a stable protective function of a secondary battery principally through software control. SOLUTION: Based on the voltage value between the positive and negative electrodes of a secondary battery being outputted from an AD converter 38, a microcomputer 30 judges whether the secondary battery is in overcharged state, normal operating state or overdischarged state and then controls operation of a discharge current interrupting means and a charging current interrupting means through an FET driver 42 depending on the judged state. When the secondary battery is judged to be in overcurrent state based on the magnitude of the charge/discharge current thereof, an overcurrent detecting circuit 20 controls the discharge current interrupting means to bring about an interrupted state preferentially to control by the microcomputer 30.
