PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a card insertion and discharge mechanism disposed on a front part of a card reader for transporting a card so that a longitudinal direction and a transport direction of the card match, capable of preventing skimming, and feeding the card in which, regardless of an orientation of the card, the card can be processed on a card reader, to the card reader.SOLUTION: A card insertion and discharge mechanism 4 is configured to: when a card 2 is inserted into a card insertion hole 5 in a state in which a short direction of the card 2 and X direction match, and an orientation of a front surface of the card is correct, take the card 2 to a rotation position 2A, then control a card rotation and transport mechanism 16 by a rotation direction and rotation angle based on a determination result of an insertion orientation of the card 2, for rotating the card 2. The card insertion and discharge mechanism 4 does not take the card 2, when the card 2 is inserted into the card insertion hole 5 in a state in which, a longitudinal direction of the card 2 and X direction match, or the orientation of a front surface of the card is incorrect.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
