PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which outputs an image in a stable state without producing an abnormal image when the apparatus is repeatedly used at a high speed. SOLUTION: The following titanyl phthalocyanine crystal is used as a charge generating material for an electrophotographic photoreceptor. The crystal exhibits the maximum diffraction peak at least at 27.2°as a diffraction peak of Bragg angle 2θ±0.2°for CuKαline (at 1.542Åwavelength), and further main peaks at 9.4°, 9.6°, 24.0°, a peak at 7.3°as a diffraction peak in the smallest angle side, no peak between peaks at 7.3°and 9.4°, and further a peak at 26.3°, and has≤0.25μm average size of primary particles. Thereby, the particle size in the charge generating layer is homogenized, and a stable electrophotographic photoreceptor is obtained which is improved in contamination on the base and induces no decrease in charging property even for repeated use without losing high sensitivity.
