PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding component which shows excellent grease retaining properties and durability. SOLUTION: The sliding component is constituted to have a sliding part where a coupling member slides on a shaft 25 of a needle thread take up to which grease 40 is supplied, and both a Cr coating 31 and a DLC coating 32 on the surface layer of a base material 30. On the DLC coating 32, a grease reservoir 35 formed of a dent part 34 deeper than a diameter of a puffing agent 41 of the grease 40. Consequently, since the grease reservoir 35 is deeper than the diameter of the puffing agent 41, the grease reservoir 35 reliably retains the puffing agent 41 getting into the grease reservoir 35, increases retaining properties of the grease 40, prevents the seizure of the sliding component, and increases durability of the shaft 25 of the needle thread take up.
