<p>A composition is disclosed which consists of an amount of a non-barrier forming material, in the form of a solution, suspension, emulsion, spray, or foam, with semi-crystalline beta-1-4-N-acetylglucosamine polymers (p-GlcNac). The medicament is to be topically administered to a patient in need of modulation, as it is useful for stimulating, in a p-GlcNac concentration-dependent manner, endothelin-1-release, vasoconstriction, and/or reduction in blood flow out of a breached vessel, as well as for contributing to or effecting cessation of bleeding. The amount used is to be sufficient for achieving at least a transient, localised physiological response whereby at least a transient, localised modulation of vascular structure and/or function is achieved. The medicament is explained to be beneficial in treating vascular disorder such as menorrhagia, cerebral aneurysm, abdominal aneurysm, uterine fibroid lesion, and blood vessel puncture.</p> |
