A video signal processing system, video signal processing apparatus and method, recording medium, and program for realizing a quick recovery from loss of synchronism in encrypting and decrypting video signals. An encrypting part (22) encrypts a number of frames (Tx) obtained by counting the vertical control pulses of a video signal, and transmits it together with non-encrypted number of frames (Tx) and H/V control pulses. A decrypting part (32) decrypts the encrypted number of frames (Tx) to produce a number of frames (Rx), and supplies it, together with the number of frames (Tx) and vertical control pulses to a correcting part (33). When the numbers of frames (Tx,Rx) disagree with each other successively 16 times, the correcting part (33) produces and supplies false load pulses to the encrypting part (22) and decrypting part (32). The present invention is applicable to a display device capable of dealing with digital television. |
