A tie (11) for use in pairing together two objects. The tie (11) comprising a head (21) having an elongated channel (27) extending therethrough, a locking tang (29) within the head (21), and a strap (31) having a length of approximately 63.3 cm. The strap (31) comprises a first end integrally forme d onto the head (21) and a second end. A projection (49) is formed on the stra p (31) between the first end and the second end. The elongated filament (139) is narrow in thickness, narrow in width and has a generally uniform, rectangularly-shaped croos-section. In one embodiment, the portion of the strap (31) from the projection (49) to the second end is formed in a ladder structure having a plurality of rungs (37), the rungs (37) of the strap (31) are sequentiylly engaged by the locking tang (29) when the strap (31) is inserted into and through the elongated channel (27) to form a closed loop. The projection (49) serves as a stop to limit the minimum size of the closed loop which can be formed when the strap (31) is inserted into the head (21). |
