PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle speed control device capable of eliminating any non-intentional control of a driver, and reducing a burden on the driver. SOLUTION: The vehicle speed control device comprises an acceleration detection means to detect the step-in quantity of an accelerator, a target acceleration setting means to set the target acceleration based on at least the step-in quantity of the accelerator, preceding vehicle condition detection means (S11, S12) to detect the traveling state of a preceding vehicle traveling before an object vehicle, an object vehicle characteristic detection means (S16) to detect the acceleration characteristic of the objective vehicle, an acceleration correction means (S30) which corrects the target acceleration set by the target acceleration setting means to be small (S22) when the preceding vehicle is in a traveling state at a constant speed or in an accelerating state, and the acceleration characteristic of the objective vehicle is detected to be large, and does not correct the target acceleration set by the target acceleration setting means when the traveling state of the preceding vehicle is in a decelerating state, and a vehicle speed control means to control the vehicle speed based on the target acceleration.
