PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing method and fixing device with which an image having high glossiness and uniform glossiness can be obtained without depending on an amount of toner spread on a recording medium even under conditions the transfer speed of the recording medium is relatively high. SOLUTION: Fixing of the unfixed toner is performed by passing through at least two or more fixing units arrayed in series in the transfer direction of the recording medium. The toner forming the unfixed toner image contains a releasing agent. Letting the highest temperature on the surface of the recording medium when it passes through the first fixing unit be T1, the highest temperature on the surface of the recording medium when it passes through the second fixing unit be T2, the lowest temperature on the surface of the recording medium after it exits the first fixing unit and before it enters the second fixing unit be t, the flow tester softening temperature of the toner be Ts, and the outflow starting temperature be Tfb, the toner satisfies the following expressions (1) and (2).
