PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the efficiency of removal of residual toner after transfer even when spherical toner is used, in an image forming apparatus comprising a plurality of image carriers, developing devices for forming toner images on the respective image carriers, a transfer belt disposed opposite to the plurality of image carriers, transfer devices for transferring toner images formed on the respective image carriers onto the transfer belt, and cleaning blades for removing residual toners sticking on the image carriers after transfer of the toner images, wherein the toner images transferred onto the transfer belt are transferred onto a recording medium to obtain a recorded image. SOLUTION: Amorphous toner is housed in one developing device 9BK and this toner is conveyed to the respective cleaning blades 14BK, 14Y, 14M, 14C through the transfer belt 3 to form weirs consisting of the amorphous toner near the front edges of the cleaning blades.
