PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video intercom capable of dealing with a visitor by observing its image when the visitor calls on. SOLUTION: The camera 16 of a slave unit 1 installed outside is operated at always, and its video is transmitted from the slave unit 1 to a master unit 2 which is set indoor through an intercom line 4. When a visitor pushes a call button 13 of the slave unit 1, the video from the camera part 16 at that time is displayed on a liquid crystal display part 21 of the master unit 2, with a ringtone being outputted. The image for several seconds around when the call button 13 is pushed is stored. The video from the camera part 16 at that time is also transmitted by radio communication from the master unit 2 to a sub-master unit 3 and displayed on a liquid-crystal display part 31, with a ringtone being outputted from the sub-master unit 3. By pushing a speech button 22 of the master unit 2 or a speech button 32 of the sub-master unit 3, the conversation between the indoor user and a visitor is allowed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
