PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic transmission controller for a vehicle capable of satisfactorily controlling oil pressure immediately after change of an engaging condition of a friction engaging means to suppress unevenness of gear shift shock. SOLUTION: Control duty dn is increased (steps 107 to 113) along a curve for increasing change rate gradually by monotonous increase expressed by dn = k Mn + d0 after performing rapid filling treatment (step 101), computation of an initial value d0 (step 103), and computation of coefficient k (step 105). Even when oil pressure different from a design value for an oil pressure command value is outputted, oil pressure change time in a period from start to end of torque phase does not become uneven.
