PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector whereby an acoustic characteristic (presence) is largely unchanged even when a size of a video image projected from the projector is greatly varied, and also to provide a control method of the projector. SOLUTION: The projector mounted with an ultrasonic speaker is provided with: a zooming means for regulating a projection field angle of a video projected from the projector; and a speaker radiation characteristic control means for controlling the radiation characteristic of a sound wave outputted from the ultrasonic wave speaker in accordance with the projection filed angle of the video regulated by the zooming means.
