PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrodeless discharge lamp device capable of notifying the last stage of the life of an electrodeless lamp without separately providing a display device. SOLUTION: In this electrodeless discharge lamp 1 in which a discharge gas is filled in a translucent bulb 5 and a phosphor layer is formed on the inner surface of the bulb 5, a region 9 where a phosphor is more easily blackened than its surrounding is provided in a part of the phosphor layer. For example, Y<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>:Eu forming a red phosphor, LaPO<SB>4</SB>:Ce.Tb forming a green phosphor, and BaMg<SB>2</SB>Al<SB>16</SB>O<SB>27</SB>:Eu (so called BAM) forming a blue phosphor are blended to form the phosphor layer, and the region 9 where the phosphor is easily blackened contains more blue phosphors than its surrounding region.
