PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position information providing system for sending a GPS satellite reception signal from a portable terminal to a position information providing server while measuring the position of the portable terminal with high accuracy on the providing server side to provide matching-processed position information to the portable terminal. SOLUTION: The portable terminal 30 comprises a GPS receiver 31, a reception signal processing part 32, and a positioning requiring part 33. The position information providing server 20 comprises a GPS reception data analysis/position calculation part 231 and a matching processing part 232. The processing part 32 processes a GPS satellite signal received by a GPS receiver 31 to provide GPS reception data, which are transmitted by the portable terminal to the providing server 20 together with a positioning request from the requiring part 33. In the providing server 20, the position of the portable terminal is calculated by the calculation part 231 based on the reception data sent from the portable terminal, and matching position information, which is obtained by matching-processing the position by the processing part 232, is produced and delivered to the portable terminal.
