PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering device for stabilizing clamp force when clamping an outer column to an inner column, while preventing reduction in rigidity and strength of the outer column, by avoiding stress concentration on a closing side end part of a slit. SOLUTION: When the clamp force of clamping an outer peripheral surface 10A of the inner column 10 by an inner peripheral surface 11B of the outer column 11 reaches predetermined clamp force (telescopic clamp force), inside surfaces 16A and 16B of clamp members 13A and 13B abut on an outside surface 813 and an outside surface 814 of a spacer 81. Thus, even if an operation lever 55 is further rotated in the clamp direction, since the clamp members 13A and 13B cannot be elastically deformed inside more than that, the telescopic clamp force is maintained in the predetermined size, and an excessive increase in stress acting on a closing end part 73 can be avoided.
