PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device and a method for fetching pixel data capable of adjusting and reducing the amount of pixel data that are appropriately dealt with and reducing power consumption as well even when an imaging element of high number pixels is used. SOLUTION: The imaging device is provided with an imaging element to be subjected to photoelectric conversion of an inputted light from a subject and outputting pixel data successively by a first prescribed clock; an A/D conversion part for thinning the pixel data outputted by the imaging element by a second prescribed clock and fetching them; and a clock generating part for giving the imaging element the first prescribed clock and gives the A/D conversion part a second prescribed clock of a cycle larger than the first prescribed clock.
