PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cache memory requiring small hardware and software modification cost, producing small performance overhead without a risk of system suspension caused by a lock, enabling simultaneous achievement of a function like local memory and a weakest way method, and performing substitution control by a program. SOLUTION: A sector ID is stored correspondingly to each cache way of a cache block identified by a memory access request 308. With the addition of a sector ID RAM 203 and simple decision circuits such as 401 and 303-307, by means of specifying the sector ID of one bit or on that order to the memory access request 308, it is possible to control which cache block is to be substituted. By this, it is possible to achieve functions equivalent to the local memory function (high speed memory area) and the weakest way method on the cache memory with small hardware cost, and to improve effective program speed through program optimization.
