1305127 Indexing TOBLER SA 16 Nov 1970 [26 Nov 1969] 54437/70 Heading B3B [Also in Division F2] An indexing device comprises a control slide 2 reciprocable rectilinearly between guides 1 and having abutments 21, 22 thereon that co-operate with a polygonal divider element 12 to rotate a shaft 11 in indexed steps. The slide 2 is movable between limits set by a slot 23 in the slide 2 and through which the shaft 11 passes. The element 12 may be of various star-shaped configurations (Fig. 2, not shown) or of equilateral triangular shape as shown. A force is continuously applied to the slide 2 in an extreme position to lock the shaft 11 in an indexed position. Alternatively an hydraulic or pneumatic operating piston may include a delayed acting locking finger (Fig. 3, not shown). The slope and spacing of the abutments 21, 22 ensures that the shaft 11 is indexed in one direction of rotation. The indexing device is incorporated in a faceplate divider for a lathe. |
