<p>Title cpds of formula: (where R is 2-4C alkyl, R1 is 1-3C alkyl) are useful for treating prostatic adenoma, acne and hirsutism, the adult dose being 0.2-20 mg/day. They may be prepd by subjecting cpds (III) of formula: to a Birch reaction to give cpds (IV) of formula: which are then hydrolysed to give cpds (V; Z is OH of formula: H which are oxidised to cpds (V; Z is O) which are finally brominated and then dehydrobrominated.</p> |
