a machine check counter (MCC) comprising a current value indicating a current system boot of the computing system, wherein the computing system further comprises a register enumerating hardware capability of the computing system, the register comprising a bit assigned to indicate presence of the machine check counter in the computing system, the machine check counter comprising: a model specific register comprising a counter indicating the current value, the current value to be incremented upon a warm system reboot.
