<p>1283854 Animal feeding apparatus L BOHM E BOHM and I BOHM [trading as LEO BOHM KG] 12 Nov 1970 [4 Dec 1969] 53989/ 70 Heading AIM [Also in Division B1] An automatic animal feeding installation is operated by control box 15 to meter a preselected quantity of dry feed via a weighing hopper 18 into a tub 1 where it is mixed with a preselected quantity of water delivered through flowmeter 9' by valve 21. The mixing is done by blades 3 of mixer pump unit 2 which draw the feedstuff slurry through casing 2' and expel it radially (as indicated by the arrows, Fig. 2) and also by mixer 5 mounted on horizontal pivot 6' carrying a second pivot 5" at right angles so that the mixer blades can take up the position requiring least power to drive them. The other blades 3' of the mixer pump unit 2 draw in the slurry axially through an orifice and expel it radially, forcing it into pipeline 4. Mixing may be increased by setting valve 22 to discharge back into tub 1. When the slurry is adequately mixed valve 22 is set to deliver a preselected quantity of feedstuff slurry, measured by flowmeter 9, to feeding troughs 14, 14', &c., by sequential operation of valves 12, 12', &c. The pipeline 4 may be cleaned by automatic sequential flushing of water through all outlets In an embodiment for semi-automatic operation the control box is omitted and the fixed outlet pipes 13, 13' &c. and valves 12, 12' &c. are replaced by a single flexible section of pipe containing the flowmeter 9 and a valve (10, Fig. 4 not shown) acting as a metering device and connectable via a rapid-action coupling to any of the number of tapping points on the pipeline 4. The pipeline 4 may be cleaned by passing water from the tub 1 round the pipeline and back into the tub through the metering device connected to the last tapping point.</p> |
