1320596 Stacking and unstacking articles ENZINGER-UNION-WERK AG 13 Oct 1971 [19 Feb 1971] 47572/71 Heading B8C A palleting machine for crates and the like comprises a raisable and lowerable support and a truck carrying and gripper head plate displaceable between the support and a surface and located above the pallets, the head having clamping jaws engageable with the crates for transporting a layer thereof, the truck having linking points for the head plate rotatable eccentrically relative to one of the axles of the truck synchronously with the wheels thereof, the linking points describing cycloid paths during movement of the truck from a starting position and an end position and back, these cycloid paths bridging the two positions. As shown, a stack of crates 8 on a pallet supported on a lifting table 6 are lifted, one layer at a time, by grippers 11 of a lifting head 12 and transported by the head to a conveyer 9 where the grippers are released and returned by the head to the stack for engagement with the next layer. The head 12 is linked at points 14 to flanges 23, 24 of pairs of wheels 1a, 1b at each side of a truck 16 which runs on a track 2a. The truck is displaced by a crank 19 pivoted on an endless chain 20 and is connected to the axles 17, 18 of the wheels 1a, 1b, the chain being drawn in one direction only by a motor 27. The treads of the wheels 1a, 1b are provided with toothed rims 26 which engage a chain 25 secured adjacent the track 2a. In use, movement of the truck between the stack and the conveyer in either direction, lifts and moves the head through a substantially arcuate path. The operation of the grippers and of the lifting table is effected by turn means. |
