<p>The discs use reversible osmosis for cleaning, concentration or separation of solsn. suspensions or emulsions and each consists either of a centrla support plate with radial channels leading to holes in the shaft leading to its hollow centre with a porous distributor plate covered by smei-permeable membrane on each side of it or alternatively a larger porous plate with a semi-permeable membrane on each face. The pressure tight housing has a shaft gland and has inlet port for the medium to be processed, outlet port for the processed medium and deflectors protruding from its inside walls between the filter discs to create turbulence and hence better contact of the medium and the membranes. Sepd. fractions are extracted from the hollow shaft.</p> |
