<p>Hollow articles are made by fastening the ends of a tube of heat shrinkable material over a suitable former, heat contacting the tube to fit the smaller sections of the former, and removing the former. Pref. a pair of formers are mounted back to back with the smallest sections in the middle. Pref. the former(s) with the tube mounted can rotate past a fixed heater. Pref. the equipment incorporates a knife for cutting the shrunk fit tube in two. Pref. an ancillary tool can turn the cut edges of the film to fit channels in the base of each former. After the material is chilled, the formers are pref. sepd. along their axis of rotation. Esp suitable for making lampshades, flower pots, hats or similar shapes.</p> |
