An apparatus for the precision forging of a work-piece or having cross section symmetrical with respect to an axis, e.g. a shaft, of the known type in which a number of forging hammers with corresp. work tools are supported in a forging box and forge the workpiece from different sides, contains the improvement where the forging hammers are connected to the piston rods of the hydraulic drive pistons supported in the forging box, the controls for which are mutually synchronised.
