The surface to be protected may be of a helicopter blade comprising a metal core or of a compressor blade formed of epoxy-resin impregnated carbon fibres or glass fibres. In the former case, the layer(s) of composite material are glued to the metal surface whereas in the latter case, application of the composite material is effected in the mould where the compressor blade is being formed.</p> |
