CONCENTRATION OF PRECIOUS METALS

Noble metal concentrates are recovered from finely divided sulphide materials which contain 20% pyrrhotite by ca) suspending the material in an aqs. medium, and (b) heating the suspension at 80-250 esp. 130-200 degrees C under a partial O2 press. of >=1 esp. 5-20 at. in order to oxidise the sulphide minerals to form a soln. contg. dissolved non-ferrous metals, and a residue which is strongly enriched in noble metals.
