1420772 Developing electrostatic latent images XEROX CORP 3 Jan 1973 [3 Jan 1972 (2)] 370/73 Heading G2H Electrostatic latent images on rotating drum 10 receive a liquid ink/developer from forme roller 30 and duct roller 32, and the amount of liquid made available for development is regulated by an elastomeric ductor member 38. Preferably the forme roller bears a helical or other pattern of ink-holding cells or valleys separated by ink-repellent lands, and the doctor member cleans the lands, so that the attraction of an electrostatic image is required to draw ink/developer on to the drum 10. The elastomeric member may be a strip, a strip with an inelastic backing, a cylinder or a hollow tube, and is biased against the drum surface. |
