<p>The equipment in parent patent for guiding tubular thermoplastic film down around items stacked on a pallet, plus means for crosswelding and severing appropriate lengths of film for covering successive loads. The appts. is improved by use of vertical guide panels to keep the film from contacting the stacked goods before the film sheath is fully lowered. Guide panels may be fixed, rigid metal or plastic panels or a moving belt which may be an endless loop or part of a reciprocating conveyor. Film may be attracted to the guide panels by suction, static forces, etc. The panels may also act as heating surfaces for shrink wrapping the film, and prevent hin or low stiffness films from snagging against local projections or dislodging stacked goods while the film mouth is being lowered by the four leading grips.</p> |
