<p>1369521 Screw centrifuge R A YAROSLAVTSEV D E SHKOROPAD E K DZHINCHARADZE and I A FAINERMAN 2 Nov 1972 50466/72 Heading B2P In a horizontal scroll-type centrifuge for separating a three-component suspension, including solids and two liquids of which one has a density greater than that of the solids, and comprising a hollow rotor 1 having a larger diameter at one end 2 and a smaller diameter at the other end 3, the space 6 within the rotor adjacent the end 2 is adapted for collection of the heavier liquid and communicates, e.g. via passages 7 in the end 2, with an annular chamber 8 positioned next to the end 2 and provided with an overflow lip over which the heavier liquid is discharged, and the wall portion of the rotor adjacent the end 3 is provided with openings 5 for the discharge of solids, a scroll 4 being positioned interiorly of the rotor for transportation of the separated solids, a suspension of end conduit 11 projecting into the rotor and having its outlet 14 positioned within the space 6, and means 17, e.g. radially adjustable tubes 17, being provided for the discharge of the heavier liquid. The outlet 14 of the feed conduit 11 opens into a chamber 12 which communicates with the space 6 through openings 13. A deflector 16 is formed on the end 2 of the rotor to deflect the suspension being fed away from the end 2 so as to prevent it from entering the heavier liquid being discharged.</p> |
