1423944 Fuel gas KRUPP-KOPPERS GmbH 4 Feb 1974 [24 Feb 1973] 05142/74 Heading C5E Fuel gas is produced by gasifying finely divided coal and/or heavy oil at 0À5-12 atm. gauge using an oxygen-containing gasification agent which has been preheated to 800-1300‹ C. in a regenerative heat exchanger. The gasification agent is air which can be mixed with steam or enriched with oxygen. The gasification agent 2 is heated in one of a plurality of heat exchangers 4 which alternate between heating the gasification agent and being heated by combustion gases from the combustion chamber 5 in which gas 6 is burnt. The preheated gasification agent is mixed with coal dust fed from lines 13a and 13b and burnt in the gasification plant 12 to produce a liquid slag which is removed from a water bath 14 and an ash-containing fuel gas which is cooled to about 200‹ C. in a waste heat boiler 16 and 17 and washed with water at 19 and 21. Fig. 2 (not shown) illustrates a system in which the gasification agent is preheated in a plurality of heat exchangers, which are reheated by combustion of gas within the exchangers, and used to gasify heavy oil. |
