<p>Filter for air to support combustion of a fuel gas, of the type comprising a filter sheet supported on a tubular frame which is closed with a cover at one end and has an open connection at the other end from which filtered air passes into a fuel mixing chamber. Essentially, one or more baffles are fitted inside the tubular filter sheet, so that air which is drawn in through the filter sheet is forced to change direction by at least 90 degrees before joining the outlet stream. Pref. the frame is shaped as an inverted cone with the cover closing the wide end at the top; a convenient baffle is formed by extending the outlet connection almost bup to the cover. Gas burner air filter is for dust-laden atmospheres esp. useful as a filter for gas burning space heaters installed in farm building for animals e.g. bovines chickens etc. in buildings for intensive rearing. Air filtering through the sheet is further, inertia-filtered via the baffles, if the sheet becomes blocked in service, the deposite can be knocked off the sheet without falling into the outlet. Air-borne dust does not settle easily on the inverted cone face.</p> |
