<p>1304090 Dentifrice compositions COLGATE-PALMOLIVE CO 4 Nov 1971 [27 Nov 1970 (3)] 56575/70 49732/70 and 47285/71 Divided out of 56576/70 and 56577/70 Heading A5B A dentifrice paste or gel comprising a polishing agent, a gelling agent and a carrier, contains 2-100 gas bubbles per cubic centimeter, each bubble being 0.1-4 mm in diameter. The dentifrice is preferably a clear gel, the polishing agent being of the same refractive index as the remainder of the composition. The polishing agent may be sodium aluminosilicate, or a silica xerogel. The gelling agent may be a natural or synthetic organic gum, a silated synthetic clay of formula: [Si 8 Mg 5À1 Li 0À6 H 7À6 O 24 ]<SP>0.6-</SP>Na 0À6 <SP>+</SP>, a silica aerogel, pyrogenic silica, Irish moss or sodium carboxymethyl cellulose. The carrier may be a mixture of glycerol and sorbitol. The composition may also include a surface active agent, e.g. sodium lauryl sulphate, sodium N-lauryl sarcoside or nonylphenoxypolyethoxyethanol, flavouring, e.g. oil of cloves, sodium saccharin as sweetener, colouring, sodium monofluorophosphate, sodium benzonate as preservative, chloroform and deionized water. Random bubbles of gas produced in compounding the composition may be removed before introduction of the gas bubbles of the invention. The composition may then be heated and stirred whilst the gas, e.g. air or argon, is injected into it through a plurality of holes. It may then be packed into transparent P.V.C. tubes whilst still warm.</p> |
