End braking system for pneumatic cylinder movement - hydraulic cylinder connects to reservoir through a cut-off valve

The brake and stop for parts which have a rectilinear motion produced by a pneumatic cylinder gives precise control at low cost. The button (3) on the moving part (1) strikes the head (4) of the braking cylinder (5) and pushes back the piston (6). Hydraulic fluid (12) passes through a restrictor (14) on pipe (8), thus slowing the part. A photoelectric cell (15) operates just before the stop position and a valve (13) cuts off oil flow into the reservoir (9) and stops the part (1). On retracting, the valve (13) opens and the air space above the oil in the reservoir is pressurised. Oil is forced into the cylinder (5) and the brake is ready again.
