1317473 Thio bis-phenol-nickel alkanolamine complexes AMERICAN CYANAMID CO 15 May 1970 [27 Aug 1969] 23742/70 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3] Novel nickel (II) alkanolamine complexes of the general formula wherein R is H; C 1-18 alkyl or cycloalkyl; C 2-36 substituted alkyl or cycloalkyl where the substituents are selected from CN, alkoxy, carbalkoxy, carbamoyl, and R 2 N wherein R is as defined herein; C 6-10 carbocyclic aryl; C 7-12 aralkyl; or C 2-18 alkenyl; R1 is C 1-18 acyclic alkyl group; and m is 1 to 3, are prepared by reacting a nickel aquo complex of 2,21-thiobis- (p-alkyl-phenol) with an alkanolamine of formula R( 3-m )-N(CH 2 CH 2 OH) m . The novel complexes are useful as light stabilizers and/or dye receptors in polymeric compositions.
