Non-warping heat shield

The degree of localized overheating and temperature non-uniformity of coils encountered during batch heat-treatment processes is minimized through use of an insulated heat shield assembly having a central opening. The dimensionally stable heat shield is constructed so as to be resistant to warpage during the heat-treating process.
